ENGINEERS are halfway to putting new wind in the sails of a North-East landmark.
Refurbishment of Sunderland's Fulwell Mill, intended to bring it back to working order, is nearing completion after the first two of its four new sails were put in place yesterday.
Previous attempts to mount the sails fell foul of the weather, but, with conditions calm yesterday, engineers successfully fitted two of the sails.
The weather took a turn for the worse later, so a further attempt will be made today to try to bring the £800,000 project to fruition.
The mill will be open to the public at weekends for six months from next Easter, and for special visits
