FARMERS may be battling the worst recession to hit the industry for decades - but one Dales family has something to look forward to today.
For 34-year-old Janet Bainbridge was chosen as the winner of a competition run by The Northern Echo and the new branch of Travel World, in Catterick Garrison.
Yesterday, she collected £500 worth of vouchers to spend on a trip to the destination of her choice. She is now considering EuroDisney, in France, or a resort somewhere in the Mediterranean, next summer.
But, whatever the eventual decision, she will be taking her three girls - nine-year-old Vicky, Katie, aged six, and Alice, two.
Husband, Syd, has been warned that he will have to plan a break from the farm at Fremington, near Reeth, to join them.
Janet, who works part-time as a secretary for a solicitors' firm in Leyburn, said yesterday that she enjoys entering competitions.
Her family took a weekend break on the Lancashire coast after scooping top prize in another contest in the local press last year
