A YOUNG actress has scored a double win in a speech and drama festival.
Sarah Gargett, 14, from Durham, won the Intermediate Championship at Teesdale Speech and Drama Festival on Saturday, after winning the Darlington championship earlier in the year.
The young hopeful performed a piece from My Mother Said I Never Should, by Charlotte Keatly, before a panel of four adjudicators.
Since the age of five, Sarah has studied drama with teacher Elsie Shewan, from Bishop Auckland, who has produced hundreds of winners in the festivals over the years.
Sarah's mother, Alison, said: "We are all proud of Sarah. The work involved in performing in festivals is enormous.
"All the children involved deserve a medal.
