A FORMER Paralympics sports star fears she could become a prisoner in her home after she was burgled for a third time.

Denise Ross, of Stockton, who is blind, won gold and silver medals in throwing events at the games in Seoul, Korea, 12 years ago.

In recent months, her home has been broken into three times, and she has had video cameras and a vacuum cleaner stolen.

Appealing for help in tracking the thieves down, Detective Constable Steve Young said: "She is a very independent person, who enjoys visits to the local community centre.

"Obviously, people have monitored her activities and struck when she has left the house. Someone must know who is responsible and we would like to hear from them."

Mrs Ross, 47, relied on her video to record news and sporting programmes.

She said: "I have a guide dog that was given to me to allow me that little bit of independence.

"My police alarm frightened them off this time before they took anything, but if these people are going to keep coming back I'm going to be a prisoner in my home."

Anyone with information should call police on (01642) 302241.
