THE former partner of a well-loved rugby player who died suddenly on holiday has spoken of the family's shock.
Paul Fitt, 36, was away with his fiance Suzanne for a friend's wedding.
The popular father-of-two was a keen rugby player and played for Bishop Auckland rugby club.
He also played football and regularly weight-lifted.
A post mortem in Cyprus discovered he died of a heart attack.
Diane Pearson, from Shildon, lived with Paul for 16 years, and has spoken of her shock at hearing of his death.
"I still expect him to come back. It's such a shock. He was so young. He was a nice lad.
"As well as playing rugby he also played football and did weight training. He didn't have any illnesses before.
