A windmill has finally been restored - thanks to the wind dropping.
Over the past three weeks workmen have been trying to fit four new sails to Fulwell Mill, in Sunderland, but the work, which needed a giant crane, had to be postponed twice because high winds made it unsafe.
Yesterday, contractors from Bowey Construction and a specialist team from Heritage Engineering were able to complete the job.
Sunderland City Council senior planner Les Milne said: "We managed to get two sails up on Tuesday, but the wind picked up and we postponed the fitting of the other two, but we managed to get them up by lunchtime - it all went very well.
"The contractors are there for the rest of this week doing the final adjustments to the mechanism to get it running smoothly.''
The mill, in Newcastle Road, Fulwell Mill, is due to open as a visitor attraction next spring.
The Grade II listed building, which dates from 1821, has stood idle for several years. When it opens, it will be the most complete working mill north of Skidby Mill, near Hull.
