HOMELESS people in Darlington have been given a harvest lift, thanks to the efforts of a group of school pupils.
Students at Carmel RC Technology College, in Darlington, presented gifts and money to a charity that helps homeless people in the town, during a harvest assembly at the college.
Proceeds raised at the harvest assembly were presented to volunteer Deirdre Allen, who helps to run Lunchstop.
The Lunchstop initiative provides a warm meal and meeting place for homeless people in Darlington every Sunday.
The money will help to fund the weekly support work of the group.
Carmel RC Technology College teacher Sue Gatenby said: "The pupils have made a huge effort to help the homeless people in the town, and hopefully this will give them a warm meal on Sunday.
"It was a pleasure to see Deirdre at the school, and we were delighted to have made a difference.
