DAREDEVIL students and their teachers have raised more than £500 for a national cancer charity.
Ed Lott, headteacher at King James I Community College, in Bishop Auckland, and head of geography Mark Adamson led the way when they ran the Nottingham Marathon to raise money for the Imperial Cancer Research Fund.
Then, a group of pupils arranged their own moneyspinning venture, a sponsored abseil at Hounsgill Quarry, near Consett.
Ten youngsters, three teachers and one parent - including many first-time climbers - braved 40ft and 80ft descents into caves
