Chester-Le-Street Town

THE U-15s and U-17s were the only sides in action for the club at the weekend as the U-13s didn't have a game and the U-16's County Cup match at Billingham was rained off.

The U-17s maintained their challenge in the New County Youth League with an 8-0 home victory over Derwent Valley at Moor Park. The Cestrians, who made nine changes from the team that beat Sandhole last week, were on there way after ten minutes when David Hope raced clear down the right to finish with a fine angled drive. Craig Marley put Chester two up from the penalty spot after a hand ball incident in the box. Daniel Thomson scored the third before Jonathan Stark found space in the box to convert after a fine move and Dean Burns ensured Chester went into the interval 5-0 up when he scored from the penalty spot.

In the second half Chester picked up where they left off with Burns burying a left foot volley, Craig Patterson driving home a superb goal after a fine move and Daniel Thomson completed the scoring with a fine strike.

In a close game at the Riverside the U-15s went a goal down early on to Jarrow Roofing who played some neat and tidy football. The visitors went further ahead but Chester, who had earlier hit the post, pulled a goal back on half time through Michael Henderson. He scored again after the break before Roofing netted a couple to win 4-2. Keith Lines and Michael Henderson were Chester's top men.
