YOUNGSTERS at Kilton Thorpe School in East Cleveland enjoyed a day learning about health and safety and how to handle an emergency yesterday.
The youngsters, who all have learning disabilities, welcomed a host of organisations to their school in Brotton for a health and safety day, which was organised by school nurse, Sandra Hardy.
There was advice and demonstrations by the police, ambulance, fire brigade, coastguard and lifeguard, as well as a Good Grub Club.
There were also tips on forest walking, sporting opportunities, dental hygiene and how to stop smoking.
Ms Hardy said: "Teesside has a legacy of poor health and suffers from varying levels of deprivation and inequalities. The aim of the health and safety day is to have fun and raise awareness of a whole range of issues that can impact on the youngsters lives."
