DISABLED people showed off their handiwork to councillors as part of a drive to draw attention to their capabilities.
A display of arts and crafts was staged at Middlesbrough Town Hall yesterday by users of disabled facilities all over the town.
It was timed to coincide with a presentation by carers, who described their daily duties to an invited audience of councillors.
A Middlebrough Borough Council spokesman said the idea behind both events was to promote a better understanding of the lives of disabled people and those who care for them.
"There are 20,000 people in Middlesbrough who are carers and they make up a central strand of the council's community care plan," he said.
"Yesterday's event was a chance for them to get across their views on what it's like to be responsible for looking after someone, and also for staff to see that work by disabled people is often very high quality."
