A TEACHER has appeared in court charged with sex offences against young girls.
Hartlepool man Robert Michael Pendlington, a former teacher at the town's Dyke House Comprehensive, faces allegations dating from 1975 to 1998.
The 51-year-old appeared before Hartlepool magistrates charged with indecent assault on a girl and two counts of gross indecency with a girl between August 1, 1988 and July 31, 1991. He is also charged with indecent assault on a girl between August 1, 1975 and July 31, 1976, and indecent assault on a girl between August 1, 1997 and July 31, 1998.
Mr Pendlington, of Miller Crescent, Hartlepool, Teesside, was arrested in September after complaints were made against him. His most recent job was at a Stockton school, where he was head of geography.
The hearing was adjourned until Friday, November 3, to allow the Crown Prosecution Service to review the case.
