THE clock is ticking in Ingleby Cross - quite literally.
For the new millennium timepiece in the village, between Northallerton and Stokesley, has now been unveiled after a year of fundraising and a donation from the parish council.
The community's oldest member, 90-year-old Bill Elgie, was invited to unveil a plaque to commemorate the event.
The clock has been installed in the tower at the village hall, which is believed to have been left empty to aid ventilation.
But, as that is no longer necessary, the community decided it would be a suitable project to mark the year 2000.
Village spokesman Mike Ansty, said: "It was a nice project to celebrate the millennium, with the village and surrounding area getting together at various events throughout the year."
