VOLUNTEERS will be sprucing up a churchyard later this month as part of a national initiative sponsored by The Woolwich.

Make a Difference Day challenges community groups to tackle projects aimed specifically at tidying up litter-strewn or overgrown areas in towns and cities.

A Richmond workforce will be fuelled with hot drinks and provided with bin bags before starting work at Saint Mary's at 10.30am next Saturday.

There is still time for more helpers to come forward, although they are asked to take their own gardening tools and protective clothing.

More information can be had from the coordinators, the Richmond Volunteer Bureau, on (01748) 822335.
