a support group is running an information evening as part of Dyslexia Awareness Week.
The promotion week starts next Monday, when Darlington and District Dyslexia Support Group holds its open evening at the Morton Park Business Training Centre in the town, from 3.30pm to 8.30pm.
Anyone with an interest in the condition, whether they are dyslexic, are parents, teachers of local education authority representatives, or members of the medical profession, will be welcome.
Visitors can find out what help is available, not just in the North-East, but nationally.
There will also be a chance to buy teaching resources for the classroom and home, and obtain books, leaflets and compact discs on dyslexia. Admission is free.
Carol Saxby, the group's chairman, said: "Despite struggling to learn to read and spell, many dyslexic people go on to successful careers. We are delighted to be supporting the national Dyslexia Awareness Week with our own event.
