CHILDREN have been working hard at preparations for this year's Orange Darlington Festival Lantern Parade.
The first workshop for the parade took place at the Eastbourne Sports Complex, in the town, yesterday.
The theme of this year's Lantern Parade is the circus and lantern workshops will be held over the next four weeks, in conjunction with Bravura Arts Company.
Barbara Agar, an experienced lantern designer, will lead the workshops, supported by Frank Hughes and Rachel Willis.
Yesterday, they worked with children of employees of festival sponsors Orange to make orange-coloured lanterns in the shape of lions.
More than 60 children and their parents took part in the workshop.
This year's Lantern Parade will be held in the town on Friday, November 17.
The event will coincide with the BBC Children in Need appeal.
The Orange Darlington Festival Lantern Parade is sponsored by Orange, presented by Darlington Borough Council and supported by Taylor Woodrow.
