A WOMAN was punched in the face outside a nightclub after she refused to give her attacker a cigarette.
The incident happened at 2am on Friday as the 32-year-old woman from the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool was standing outside the town's Wesley nightclub.
She told police she was approached by a man who asked her for a cigarette. When she refused, he punched her in the face, breaking her jaw, and snatched her purse. The man fled towards Church Street.
Police urge anyone who witnessed the attack to contact them on (01642) 302129.
