POLICE say they have found no evidence of an object falling from the sky in a North-East city.
Officers searched the Hendon area of Sunderland after a woman reported seeing the object on Tuesday morning - but found nothing.
Theories include it being debris from a plane or metal from a satellite that Nasa officials predicted would break up and fall to earth.
Detective Inspector John Watts, of Sunderland police, said: "We had a report of a strange object in the skies about the size of a small car.
"The caller said the object was pear-shaped and thought it was hovering over Hendon.
"It is supposed crashed to the ground. We couldn't find anything but it has been reported to the relevant authorities.
