A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy was in a critical condition yesterday after falling 30ft through a roof.
The boy was playing with friends when they climbed on the slate roof of the Territorial Army centre in Highfield Road, South Shields, South Tyneside.
The roof gave way and the boy plunged to the floor, suffering serious head injuries.
He was rushed to South Tyneside District General Hospital before being transferred to Newcastle General Hospital, following the accident at 1.45pm, on Tuesday.
The boy, who was not being named last night, underwent emergency surgery and was yesterday described as being in a critical condition.
