A TEENAGE violinist from the North-East has been chosen to play in the National Youth Orchestra.
Steven Proctor, 14, will join 150 talented musicians for a series of two-week residential courses next year as they practise for a number of concerts in some of the finest venues in the country.
Steven, from Hartlepool, will be working with some of the world's leading conductors and be taught by top professional musicians during the courses.
Included in the venues which the National Youth Orchestra will play are the Birmingham Symphony Hall, the Philharmonic Hall, in Liverpool, and London's Royal Albert Hall.
Steven, who is a pupil at High Tunstall School, is a member of the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.
His tutor, Deirdre Ward, recommended that he audition for the National Youth Orchestra.
Steven said: "It is my ambition to be a professional musician. I am delighted to have been offered this opportunity.
