AN exhibition of County Durham landscapes painted by local artist Jason Lowes has opened in the region.
Jason, of Rookhope in Weardale, has been drawing and painting since he was a teenager, and has worked as a designer, sculptor and model-maker for a crystal manufacturer.
In May last year, he became a full-time artist, taking advantage of Government support available through the Wear Valley Development Agency and the county's training and enterprise council.
He specialises in landscapes and wildlife studies, and splits his time between commissions and portfolio-for-sale work.
He held his first major exhibition in January, and has since exhibited his work at several venues around the region.
Jason said: "I want my paintings to convey the natural beauty and real-life characteristics of my subjects, thus making you feel as if your are there, experiencing that moment in time."
The exhibition, on the ground floor reception area of County Hall, Durham City, runs until tomorrow and is open between 9am and 6pm. Admission is free.
