POLICE are still searching for a man who raped a young clubber in a town park.
Almost three weeks ago, a 21-year-old woman, who met her attacker outside the Plastered Parrot, was assaulted in North Lodge Park, Darlington, County Durham.
Since then, police have been trawling through closed-circuit television surveillance tapes, have issued a photofit and appealed for the public's help in finding the rapist.
Last night, Acting Detective Inspector Alec Francis, of Darlington police, said he had been disappointed by the public response.
He said: "We are still battling on to find this man, but I have been slightly disappointed by the lack of public response.
"But we will continue trying to track this man down and we are pursuing every angle we can. There is still a dedicated team of officers on the case, and we still want people to come forward with information."
The rape victim made an appeal for information through The Northern Echo.
She met her attacker outside the Plastered Parrot club, where he joined her and her sister as they went to the Mardi Gras club in Gladstone Street.
The woman began to feel ill and left the club alone. Her attacker followed her.
It was while she was walking through North Lodge Park, just 50 yards from the club, that the man attacked and raped the woman.
The attacker is described as about 22 and 5ft 7in. He was tall, clean shaven, with short black hair.
He wore light coloured trousers and a blue or black Adidas-style top.
