Three second-half goals gave Durham a 3-0 home win over North Yorkshire in the English Schools FA Premier League Under-16 tournament (Northern section).
Mark Smith from Farringdon School, Sunderland, scored twice with one from Daniel Craggs of Blackfyne (Consett).
Durham's next game is against Northumberland next month with the Under-19 team also in action.
In the English Schools' Heinz Trophy (Under-15), Bishop Auckland moved into the third round with a 2-1 away victory over Chester-le-Street and now face a difficult game at Trafford.
Sam Smallman from Tudhoe gave Bishop Auckland the lead and the second goal came from a penalty by Tony McMahon from Staindrop.
McMahon, on Middlesbrough's books, scored a hat-trick in the previous round when when Bishops overcame Redcar and Cleveland 4-0.
Chester-le-Street's goal was scored eight minutes from time by Ben Harris of Framwellgate Moor.
Hartlepool also suffered a 2-1 home defeat, beaten by South Northumberland who took a two-goal lead before David Willingham of Brierton pulled a goal back.
l Crook Town's FA Youth Cup tie will be played at Oldham on Sunday, the tie switched from this evening. The outcome of the tie will be decided on Sunday.
The game has been rescheduled because Crook have players involved in Durham FA U-18 and schools U-18 squads tomorrow.
