A FOOTBALL festival with a difference was hosted by the boys and staff of Aysgarth School, at Newton-le-Willows, near Bedale.
The Spirit of Soccer Festival was conceived as a day of fulfilment and fun for pupils with modest footballing skills, who would not otherwise have the opportunity of representing their schools in matches.
Enthusiasm, team spirit and sportsmanship were judged to be as important as goals and winning - and every player received a medal for taking part.
Six schools took part in five-a-side matches, on Aysgarth's 17 acres of pitches.
The school's director of sport, Carl Rycroft, said: "The festival was an opportunity for children to experience worthwhile sporting competition at a level that they can enjoy, and which gives a boost to their self-confidence."
