The showing finals at the Horse of the Year Show produced a reserve champion for Jerome Harforth, from Great Ayton, in the Breeders Challenge Supreme Championship.
He was showing Pam Sowersby's yearling Rotherwood Flamenco, by Rotherwood Peter Pan, which qualified at the Northern Horse Show.
Rebecca Miller took the show hunter pony tricolour and the overall supreme ridden pony tricolour with Fielding Tom Sawyer, by Jerome's late stallion Chas Sawyer. The pony started his career at Stanley Grange as a novice with Simon Charlesworth.
Hayley Patterson, based at the Stanley Grange stud, was third in the coloured with Copybush Chuckle, while Simon Charlesworth had a fourth in the Intermediate Show Riding Type with Colbeach Starlight Express. The same stable had a fifth in the 128cm show pony for Elizabeth Toulson on Ainsty Fair & Square.
Nicola Gregory from Darlington was third in the Simpson Refractories Ridden Mountain and Moorland Championship on Bill Ireland's seven-year-old Kilmannan Black Bramble. Julie Swinburn from Beamish was third in this section with Roseisle Pannikin, while Andrea Peel had a second in the coloured classes with Talent Scout.
Sarah Emmerson from Stokesley had a fourth with Cooks Farewell and a seventh with Tarka in the intermediate sections. Lauren Walker from Easingwold took the 133cm working hunter riding Shandyne April's Lad.
l The BSPS Area 3A held their first winter qualifying show at Northallerton EC, Yafforth where Francesca Halder, who has just taken over the ride on Jill Waterhouse's outstanding Welsh B pony Douthwaite Bolero, won the working hunter championship from former rider Lucy Metcalfe with her New Forest pony Krestimanci.
Lucy went on to take the Mountain and Moorland tricolour ahead of Sophie Burkin on her new Dartmoor pony Carraleigh Willow.
Annelise Stonehouse from Little Ayton took the show hunter tricolour on the home produced Mayeath Royal Blessing. Reserve went to Claire McNicholas on Chance the Second.
