ONE of the region's smallest health clubs is celebrating after it picked up a top award in a national competition.

Healthwise Fitness Club on Milton Street, Saltburn, won the gold award in the Small Private Club category of the Awards for Excellence.

The award, sponsored by Leisure Finance, was in recognition of the centre's commitment to health excellence.

Club owner June Woodhall, who runs the leisure club with her family, said: "I am absolutely ecstatic because we have only been running for two years this December and a lot went into getting this award.

"We had mystery shoppers and had to do presentations and self assessments," she added.

The club's 300 members are also delighted about the award
