A VETERAN councillor is recovering at home after suffering from a heart attack.
Coun Tony Moore, 59, of Newton Aycliffe, was taken ill while walking home on Monday evening of last week.
Daughter-in-law Marie Moore said: "Once he sat down he felt a bit better but in the morning he thought he'd better get checked out with his doctor. He got the ambulance to take him straight through (to hospital).
"He's been lucky and we hope he'll take this as a warning and slow down, because he's very active."
Mr Moore was allowed home from Bishop Auckland General Hospital on Friday evening.
He said: "I'll just be taking it easy. Something like this makes you count your blessings. It also makes you think you should look after yourself a little better."
Coun Moore, who had a mild heart attack in 1989, is an Independent councillor on Great Aycliffe Town Council, Sedgefield Borough Council, and Durham County Council.
