DALES families waiting for new homes should see work restarting on a troubled building site in the next few weeks.
Since August, the Three Rivers Housing Association has been looking for a company to finish off an estate of 12 houses and four bungalows at the Crofts, in Wolsingham.
The site was left half completed when the building firm Bennisons, from Birtley, ran into financial difficulties.
Now the association says it is close to reaching agreement with a replacement contractor and is hopeful of an early restart.
A spokesman said: "We are in negotiations with another contractor and could be back on site by early November."
Tenants in another Weardale village, Frosterley, were more fortunate.
After Bennisons pulled out Three Rivers were quick to complete negotiations with another contractor Carillon to complete ten homes at Westfield.
The first families were able to move in early last month.
