FIVE generations of a family gathered to celebrate the birthday milestone of a great-great grandmother.
Evelyn Hodgson celebrated her 100th birthday this week at Portland House Nursing Home, Crook, where she is a resident.
In her lifetime, Mrs Hodgson has lived through two world wars, seen several prime ministers and witnessed the advent of the electronic age.
She was born at the Colliery Inn, High Jobs Hill, Crook, in 1900, where her parents were landlords, and spent all her life in the town.
The centenarian was a member of a local dance group and performed at the Elite Hall, Crook.
She celebrated her birthday with her daughter, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren
