THERE will not be a size 16 in sight when dresses fit for a queen take to the catwalk next week.
Organisers of a show celebrating One Hundred Years of Fashion had to rule out larger models because their special garments were so tiny.
West Auckland Memorial Community Association have included dresses worn by Queen Alexandra, Edward VII's mistress Lillie Langtry and the Duchess of Windsor Wallis Simpson for its celebration of clothes from 1860 to 1960 on Wednesday November 8.
Consett costumier Alan Graham's collection also includes dresses from the Titantic and the mini-skirt era.
Chairman Tom Hutchinson had the task of finding models. He said: "They can be no more than a size 12, as the ladies were small in those days."
David and Nicola Wright provide music and songs. Tickets are £2 from West Auckland Post Office or from the bingo, tea dance or carpet bowls clubs.
