WORKERS at one County Durham supermarket struggled through snow, wind and rain to get to work yesterday - so they could sit in a bath of blancmange.
The five women from Asda, in Stanley, were raising money for the Tickled Pink Fund for Breast Cancer' appeal.
Such was their devotion to the cause, they took turns over the course of an entire day to sit in the gooey bath.
"We just thought what could we do to for the fund and thought 'what's pink . . . pink blancmange,'" said shop worker and Asda Stanley publicity officer Joyce Clark, by way of explanation.
"It's not so bad in here really and we're certainly not short of anything to eat!"
The five women have already raised £200 in sponsorship for the stunt and hoped to raise more from shoppers during the day.
To make the bath, they used 150 packets of blancmange and 150 pints of milk.
