A CENTRE for elderly Derwentside people with mental problems is doing a good job, according to a survey.
The Haven Day Centre, at Burnhope, near Stanley was given marks of four or five out of five by the users and carers interviewed.
The centre, which opened six years ago, is funded by Durham County Council and County Durham and Darlington Health Authority, and is run by North West Durham Rural Community Care.
It provides 13 places on weekdays for people aged 85 and over, from Derwentside, who have mental problems. Activities include quizzes, outings, exercise classes, craftwork, current affairs discussions and reminiscence days.
Clients are referred by health and social services after an assessment of their needs
Paul Copeland, a team manager for older people, said: "The survey of users and carers shows just how well the work of the centre is being received."
