A FERRYHILL school choir is preparing for a fundraising concert at the Telewest Arena, Newcastle.
Dean Bank Primary School is taking part in the Young World Concert on November 14, to raise money for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, in London.
The children, who will be accompanied by teacher Christine Earl, are rehearsing hard for the concert, where they will join 5,000 other children from the North-East.
Dean Bank headteacher John Denham said: "Last year's choir had a great time taking part, and so this year's group of children are really keen to participate."
The Dean Bank pupils will be singing songs from Grease, The Lion King, Oliver and other shows, in a programme compiled by the organisers.
The concert hopes to raise at least £5,000 for Great Ormond Street, which is the oldest children's hospital in Britain.
It treats about 100,000 children each year for some of the rarest and most life-threatening conditions.
The National Health Service pays for the daily running of the hospital, but Great Ormond Street still needs to raise £10m a year for research, medical equipment and to support families
