ON TUESDAY, Scorton villagers have the chance to see a model of the ambitious plans for an extension to the war memorial institute.
Months of discussion, planning and feasibility studies, led by the institute trustees, have resulted in a proposal for an impressive extension to the widely-used building.
The institute is a main feature of the village architecturally, and is also the venue for many regular clubs and societies. Discos, wedding receptions, birthday celebrations all take place there and the demand for the hall is increasing.
Public demand prompted the trustees, chaired by Mr Ian Threlfall, to look at the facilities and requirements the hall should have, in order to benefit everyone.
With this in view, a planning application was submitted and approved by the planning authorities.
Now, following a feasibility study, a model showing the exterior and interior of the proposals has been produced and, in conjunction with the Prospects Partnership, an evening to view the model of the proposed extension will be held on Tuesday, 4-8pm.
This will be an informal opportunity for villagers to see the model and have a say on what the hall should and could be used for. Refreshments will be available.
