A MAJOR event is to be staged at a new centre on Teesside to encourage the development of hi-tech companies in the area.
The seminar, which takes place on Wednesday at the new Innovation Centre at Kirkleatham, has been organised by the British Urban Regeneration Association.
It will use national and local case studies to help identify the needs of start-up companies in fields such as e-commerce, laser technology and biotechnology.
Neil Etherington, Chief Executive of the Tees Valley Development Company, said: "The Innovation Centre is the ideal venue because it has been specially developed by UK Steel Enterprise to provide the kind of high-quality facilities which new leading edge companies need to get off the ground.
"It is clear that one of the most important elements in regenerating the Tees Valley is to greatly increase the level of new business start-ups and events of this kind are a vital element in achieving that objective."
Anyone interested in attending the seminar or obtaining further information should contact the British Urban Regeneration Association on the Freefone number (0800) 0181260 or e-mail inforg.u
