DANIEL Carrick and Robert Farquhar have passed the Football Association class 3 referees' examination and are officiating in Bedale high school football matches.
Mr Martyn Coombs, head of PE and a class 1 referee still active in the Northern League, said: "Every year I try to enrol students on the referee course who I think might turn out to be good referees in time.
"Refereeing today is a young man's world and the leagues are on the lookout for rising young talent. One of our officials in the Northern League is only 24 and has just been promoted to the national list of referees. If youngsters have talent there is no reason why they cannot swiftly rise to the top of the profession."
