After their disappointing performance last week in the County Cup, BEADS thrashed visitors Richmond Town 7-1. They took the lead through Chris Norris in the eighth minute and six minutes later Michael Walker added a second.

In their first attack of a rather one-sided affair Richmond pulled a goal back through Ian Armstrong in the 37th minute when he beat the offside trap to score. In the second half BEADS were well on top as they were in the first half but this time they took the chances they created. In the 47th minute Lee Bowes made it 3-1 with tremendous volley and four minutes later he scored a second of equal quality when he chipped the ball over a Richmond defender and over the advancing keeper to make it 4-1. Mark Hyndman then added a fifth with a free kick that flew into the net with the keeper beaten.

Andrew Banks then set up Paul Norton in the 72nd minute with Banks himself scoring his sides seventh in the 80th minute.

Cargo Fleet took a tenth minute lead against visitors New Marske Sports Club and never looked in danger as they went on to record a 5-1 victory. George Pain was on target after good work by Gary Hamilton and he scored again in the 21st minute after centre-half John Patterson set him up for his second. Pain completed his hat-trick five minutes later to make it 3-0 at half time with his tenth of the season.

In the second half Ray Teasdale added a forth with his eighth of the season in the 55th minute and on the hour Michael Crowe added a fifth with his second of the season.

New Marske pushed forward and were rewarded with an 85th minute consolation goal with Chris Knight's first of the season.

Grangetown Boys Club made it three wins on the trot with a 3-0 victory over Whitby Town Res.

They had the opportunity to take the lead after half an hour when they were awarded a penalty but Gary Simpson hit the bar.

Just before half time the Boys Club were awarded a second penalty and this time Anthony Roberts was trusted with the kick and he obliged to make it 1-0. Two minutes into the second half the Boys Club were awarded a third penalty by the referee and Roberts made it 2-0.

The visitors, who have failed to win in eight matches, but have drawn twice, tried to find a way back into the match but in the 78th minute, Danny Cobain who was firm in defence came up for a corner and made it 3-0 with his third of the season to make the points safe for the Boys Club.

Hollybush United followed up last week's County Cup win with a 4-1 win over Stokesley Sports Club. Steve Thornton gave the home side a tenth minute lead.

Five minutes before the break Paul Gettings, with his first of the season, made it 2-0 and on the stroke of half time Thornton made it 3-0.

In the second half Stokesley pressed forward but were unable to make any impression on the deficit until the 70th minute when Matty Stirland, making his first appearance of the season, pulled it back to 3-1 before Hollybush secured their eighth win of the season when Steve Smith finished the scoring.

Nunthorpe Athletic ran up an 11-1 win at home to Mackinlay Park. Karl Forbes gave the home side the lead after ten minutes against the basement club and he added a second ten minutes later.

Phil Pinkney made it 3-0 after 25 minutes and five minutes before half time Lee Doughty got on the score sheet with his seventh of the season to make it 4-0. Karl Bramwell then scored for Mackinlay Park to make it 4-1 at half-time.

Ten minutes into the second half Forbes completed his first hat-trick to make it 5-1. Gary Hyde then made it 7-1 with two goals in the 70th and 72nd minutes. Forbes scored his fourth and Nunthorpe's eighth in the 75th minute before Hyde struck for his side's ninth in the 78th and completed his four-goal haul in the 80th minute. Peter Boldison added his side's 11th with five minutes remaining to set them on the road to Liverpool next week, as the North Riding representative side in the Northern Counties Senior Cup.

Thornaby entertained leaders Acklam Steelworks who won 1-0.

After four minutes Acklam were reduced to ten men when Lee Brydon saw red for shouting foul language at an assistant referee.

The match was settled in the 73rd minute with a bizarre goal after a Kris Townsend clearance in the Thornaby area hit David Birks of Acklam and rolled into the Thornaby net to secure Acklam's lead at the top of the League on goal difference over Cargo Fleet, but with a game in hand. Tomorrow a top of the League meeting takes place at Acklam against Cargo Fleet.

Thornaby Youth Club and visitors Carlin How met last week in the County Cup with the Youth Club winning a tight match 4-2 at Carlin How. At the weekend they met again and it was visitors Carlin How who took the lead in the 25th minute. A free kick on the edge of the Youth Club penalty box, was teed up by Graham Solomon whose shot at goal took a slight deflection and flew into the bottom corner of the net.

The Youth Club pushed forward and just before half time they drew level when Guy Whatmore headed down a cross for Mac Allen to poke home. In the second half, on a wet and slippy pitch, the match swung end-to-end with neither side able to find the winner until the 65th minute when a first of the season from Colin Heffron secured a second 2-1 win for Thornaby Youth Club.

Wolviston Reserves were looking for a win over Guisborough Town reserves that would see the two teams swap places in the table but they lost 3-2.

In the fifteenth minute Dean Farley gave the Guisborough side the lead only to see Matthew Loving deservedly equalise when he unleashed a terrific shot that gave the 'keeper no chance.

In the 42nd minute Wolviston were rewarded for their constant pressure when Stephen Casey curled a free kick up and over the wall and into the bottom corner. But on the stroke of half time it was all square when a free kick was headed home by Farley to make it 2-2.

Seven minutes into the second half Richard English, who had been making some out standing saves for Guisborough, scored a what turned out to be a bizarre winning goal when he launched the ball down the field, and with the wind behind, it flew over the Wolviston defence took a wicked high bounce and flew over Chris Simpson in the goal.

Fishburn Park's North Riding Senior Cup tie at home to Bedale Ath. was postponed.

NORTHALLERTON Police opened up a three-point lead at the top of Division One as they extended their winning start to the season with a 3-1 home victory over third-placed Royal Oak.

Three Coopers Bedale failed to close on the leaders when they were beaten 3-2 at Kneeton Park as the home side recorded their first victory since the opening day of the season.

North Yorks Unison claimed their second win of the season, 5-0 at home over Robert Thompsons, to move to sixth place.

Division Two leaders Brompton-on-Swale notched their seventh successive win, 8-0 at bottom club Robert Thompsons Reserves, to give themselves an eight-point cushion over their nearest rivals. Third-placed Durham Ox missed a chance to close the gap at the top when they went down 2-0 at Stokesley SC and drop two positions.

Topcliffe, 5-3 home victors over Catterick Village, move up to third and Stokesley SC take over fourth spot. After three successive defeats, Blue Star won 5-1 at home over Appleton Wiske and move up into eighth place.

Division Three was badly hit by the poor weather conditions and four games were postponed because of waterlogged pitches. With the top three teams not in action, Streetlam Farmers moved up into second place on goal difference after a 6-4 away victory at Nags Head Utd.

Thirsk Town move up three places after a 4-3 away win at Vale of York and Sinderby also make progress after a 3-2 home victory over Hutton Rudby.

Hathaway Auckland and District League

Shildon Railway consolidated third place with a 4-0 win over Middleton Wanderers. They led 2-0 at half-time with goals from John Shotton and John Myers, and made the game safe with further goals from Tim Hole and Darren Foster.

DSRM moved up after a 3-1 win over Brewer and Firkin. They led 1-0 half-time with a goal from Paul Cooper and added further second-half goals from Steve Sinclair and Stuart Taylor with Lester Corbett scoring for Brewer and Firkin.

The league game between Brandon Station and Cockfield was postponed due to a waterlogged ground.

In the Darlington Charity Cup first round the all-league affair between Coxhoe Athletic and Black and Decker was decided by a first-half goal from Black and Decker's Mark Fleming. Holders, Witton Park had a 7-0 win over Willington Cottles with goals from Paul Foster (2), Wayne Nicholson (2), Derek Cooper (2), and Mark Evans. Darlington RA were too strong for Wearhead United and ran out 11-1 winners with goals from Paul Adamson (3), Steve Walker (2), Graham Dodsworth (2), Martin Brown, Gary Lowes, Mark Radmore and Richard Hill.

The games between Hole-in-the-Wall and Quinns Inn, and Darlington Spraire and Glaxo were postponed due to waterlogged grounds.
