A JUNIOR archer has been named this month's Darlington Young Sportswinner.
Christopher White, from Darlington is a member of the Archers of the Tees club. He attends Longfield School.
The 12-year-old holds national records for the under-12 Bristol 4 and the under-12 80-yard clout, and is awaiting ratification of an under-14 100-yard clout record.
As Darlington's Young Sportswinner of the month he wins a trophy, £100 of sports vouchers from Orange, and 12 months' free membership to the Eastbourne Sports Complex fitness suite.
Runner-up was rugby player Christopher Dargue, 14, who also attends Longfield School. He is a member of Darlington Rugby Football Club. Third was Jonathan Cherrington, 14, another Darlington rugby player and Longfield pupil. He is a member of Darlington Mowden Park Rugby Club.
The team award, sponsored by AMEC, went to Carmel RC Technology College's under-16s girls' netball team.
The Service to Sport Award, sponsored by Darlington Borough Council, went to Owen Jackson, of Darlington Mowden Park Rugby Club.
Sports being considered for next month's awards are athletics, bowls, tennis, orienteering, equestrian or any other sport not previously considered. Entrants should be aged between 11 and 20.
