A DARING mum has achieved her lifelong ambition by throwing herself out of a plane for charity.
Irene Robson had always wanted to do a parachute jump so her husband Malcolm and sons, Lee and Martyn, bought her a freefall skydive as a birthday present.
Irene, of Fairmead in Yarm, decided to put her jump to good use and set about raising money for the Cancer Research Campaign's research into breast cancer.
In the summer, Irene went to Peterlee Parachute Centre in County Durham and enjoyed a spectacular 12,000ft freefall followed by a six-minute parachute descent.
She said: "The jump was simply the most thrilling experience of my life and more than lived up to expectation. It was so wonderfully peaceful and exciting and I loved every moment."
Irene, who works as a secretary for John Taylor and Co Insolvency in Yarm presented a cheque for £900 to the Cancer Research Campaign this week.
She raised the money from sponsorship from friends and colleagues.
