SCRABBLE buffs got down to business in a marathon game to raise money for charity.
Darlington Scrabble Club organised the 12-hour "Scrabblethon" in aid of the Butterwick Children's Hospice.
Mayor of Darlington Councillor Dot Long dropped into the Dolphin Centre to check on the progress of the wordsmiths.
The event took place from 9am to 9pm on Saturday. Members of the club completed the 12-hour shift, and also enlisted the help of the public.
Club member James Crooks said: "We asked members of the public if they would like a game in return for making a small donation.
"This is the fourth time we have held the event, and we usually raise about £300 for the hospice."
