A MAN and woman were killed when their car was involved in a road accident on Saturday morning.
Helen Ruth Burrows, 39, and Thomas Herriot, 51, both of West Terrace in Coxhoe, County Durham, died when their Peugeot 309 was involved in a collision with a Renault Megane.
The collision happened at about 7.30am on the A177 road between Sedgefield and Coxhoe, near the C24 junction.
Durham Fire and Rescue Service had to cut the couple free from the car. They were taken to Dryburn Hospital, near Durham, but later died as a result of their injuries.
A 43-year-old man was also injured in the collision and taken to hospital.
Durham Police are appealing for any witnesses to the accident to come forward and contact them on 0191-386 4929.
