TEMPORARY traffic lights will be in operation from today when work begins to strengthen a bridge in north Durham.
The lights will control single lane traffic on the B6302 Hamsteels New Bridge, at Esh Winning, while the work, costing £80,000, is carried out.
The scheme involves renewing the reinforced concrete slab deck and stone-clad reinforced concrete parapets, waterproofing and resurfacing.
Slight traffic delays are expected during the work, which is expected to last for eight weeks.
