PRIMARY school children are being entertained by a puppet theatre production, sponsored by Royal Mail to visit ten schools in the region.
This week, the curtain rose on the play, Frogs and Snails and Teddy Bear Tales, at Frederick Nattrass Primary School, Norton.
The play, aimed at under sevens, centres on a teddy who is too excited to sleep as it is his birthday the next day.
The production supports work covered by the National Curriculum, and includes follow-up activities, with youngsters having to design and post their own birthday cards to teddy. Phil Crossley, from the Royal Mail, said: "In conjunction with education professionals, Royal Mail supports a series of projects aimed at developing children's literacy skills.
"We believe this play is an innovative way to bring reading and writing to life."
