THE stormy weather has wreaked havoc throughout parts of Teesside.
At 7.30am yesterday, a crew from Stranton fire station, Hartlepool, was called to Kesteven Road, after it looked as though a car port roof was going to blow off.
Firefighters managed to secure the roof temporarily, but said it would need permanent structural repairs. A fire spokesman said: "The weather was really bad and we were out most of the day with floods."
In Billingham, St John the Evangelist School was closed due to flooding as was Our Lady & St Bede's, in Stockton. Three classes at Fairfield Junior School, Stockton, were also sent home.
Animals from High Clarence Community Farm, Port Clarence, had to be evacuated to a nearby farm and Preston Park, Eaglescliffe, after the farm became swamped
