POLICE are trying to trace a woman who escaped the clutches of two would-be muggers.
Shortly after the attempt to snatch her bag, she warned another woman to be aware of the youths responsible.
Moments later, the second woman fell victim to the pair as she walked past Greengates Primary School, Kielder Close, Redcar, at about 5.30pm last Thursday.
They knocked her to the ground and kicked her. They then carried out a search and, when they found nothing, kicked her again, before running off over fields towards West Dyke Road.
The two youths responsible are both white males, aged about 16 and 6ft tall. One is said to be of skinny build. He was wearing a cream hooded pullover with the hood up, blue jeans and trainers.
The other was of proportionate build, with a spotty face. He was wearing a blue zipped top, with the hood up, blue jeans and training shoes.
Police are anxious for anyone who may have seen the pair, particularly the woman who gave the warning, to get in touch by calling (01642) 302626.
