TWO men threatened staff at a Newcastle bookmakers with a handgun and baseball bat during a raid.
They struck at Stanley Racing, Slatyford Lane, at about 3.15pm on Saturday.
One of the men leapt over the counter and grabbed some money before both ran off, escaping in a Volvo saloon.
No one was injured in the robbery.
The car, stolen from Newcastle Central Station on November 1, was dumped in Mardale Road, a short distance from the scene of the crime.
Both men wore stocking masks. One was 5ft 7in, with short dark hair and dark clothing. He appeared to be between 20 and 30.
His accomplice was 6ft 1in, of medium build, with dark clothing.
