New line on street parking
Durham County Council's highways committee will be recommended tomorrow to remove double yellow lines that were laid in Beamish Street, Stanley, in 1968, before Front Street was pedestrianised. Two objections have been received from residents and a business in the street. They say the move will mean more parking in the street.

Ghostly tales: Local historian David Butler will be talking about ghostly tales and public executions in Durham tomorrow, at 2pm, in the main library in South Street. Tickets cost £2 and are available from the library or by ringing 0191-386 4003.
Ceilidh off: A ceilidh due to be held by the Willowburn Hospice at St Bede's School, Lanchester, on Saturday, has been cancelled and will be held on a date yet to be arranged.
Salon plan: Durham City Council has given planning permission for a hairdressing salon to be set up in part of a house in Valley View, Ushaw Moor.
