EXPENSIVE items of jewellery, the trappings of the rich and famous, are irresistible to robbers.

George Reynolds, the latest rich victim of one of London's several "Rolex Robbers", has pledged to part with the costly valuables which put his family in such danger.

The Reynolds, whose diamond encrusted gold watches were worth about £50,000, have joined the ranks of the growing number of wealthy targets singled out by the gangs.

Others who have been attacked for their exclusive jewellery include:

l Michael Heseltine's daughter Alexandra, who was robbed of her £8,000 Cartier watch in Kensington.

l Former model Jilly Johnson lost her £5,000 Cartier watch as she dangled her arm from her car window at traffic lights in London.

l Last year, actress Britt Eckland was left bleeding outside a supermarket in Chelsea's King's Road after her diamond-studded Rolex was ripped from her wrist.

l Days later, TV presenter Dani Behr had her Cartier watch and purse stolen near to her Finchley home.

l In January, the wife of top hairdresser Nicky Clarke was pounced on by thugs who ripped two diamond rings from her fingers.

"These gangs are ruthless and can spot expensive watches a mile away. It is not worth wearing costly jewellery any more,'' said George, who advised anyone who owns similar items to keep them out of sight
