ROAD closures and diversions will be put in place this weekend as major repairs take place on one of the region's roads.
Work on the A179 roundabout at Hart Village, near Hartlepool, will start on Saturday, and is expected to take four days, weather permitting.
The work will start with the road being closed between the roundabout and the western end of Hart Village. On Monday, the A179 will be reopened, but there will be temporary traffic lights.
The road at the eastern end of Hart will be closed, and all traffic will have to enter and leave the village from the west.
Hart Lane will be closed throughout the work, and diversions will be in place.
Borough council spokesman Ian Parker said: "Signs will be placed on the A19 and other approach routes to ensure motorists are made aware of the work.
"This is a difficult job and it has been hard to come up with a solution which maintains traffic flows and has the least impact on residents.
"Safety is our concern and we have thought carefully about the scheme.
"There will be delays, and I would urge all motorists to take their time, reduce their speed and be patient."
