AN inquest was opened yesterday into the deaths of a couple involved in a road accident in County Durham.
Helen Ruth Burrows, 39, and Thomas Herriott, 51, both of West Terrace, Coxhoe, died when their Peugeot 309 collided with a Renault Megane last Saturday morning.
The collision happened on the A177 between Sedgefield and Coxhoe.
The couple were taken to Dryburn Hospital, Durham City, where Ms Burrows later died from head injuries and her partner, Mr Herriott, died of multiple injuries.
Mr Herriott worked at a racing stables, where he rode out the horses.
The inquest, at Bishop Auckland, was adjourned for further police inquiries.
